What is that?!?

We followed our new friends up to Jolly Harbor, Antigua and found an open spot to anchor right next to our friends from Secret Harbour Marina in Grenada. Jim had caught a Mahi on our sail up. We gathered, along with some new friends, on Jim and Diana's boat for a delicious fish dinner. we brought the garlic butter pasta and the other couple brought fresh vegetables to enjoy with the freshly caught fish. We had a wonderful time talking and laughing together. It's interesting that we always seem to become fast friends with whomever we meet.

Later, when we returned to our boat, we noticed a strange rolling motion, like the boat was getting stuck in one position for a second or two. Tim realized that our keel kept hitting the sea floor as we were rolling. We had to move, in the dark. We got ready to pull up anchor - started the engine and generator, did all of the checks and put on our walking talkie headsets. After the anchor was on deck, Tim began to try to move the boat. We were stuck! We could not move. We had dug a hole in the sand, by rolling back and forth. We had to wait until high tide to be able to move. I was so uncomfortable about this predicament, that I put on my life vest and went to sleep in the cockpit. Tim went to bed. At about 4:00 am, Tim woke me up with "It's time to move." And we did.

There was some confusion about the water depth in the area. Luckily, we did not tip over. That was what I was afraid of. There probably was not much of a chance of that as this boat can actually stand solely on its keel. Tim knew that. I did not.
