We left The Caicos Islands en route to the Bahamas. We had to travel about 150 to get to the first customs/immigration office in order to check in. That meant no stopping to explore. So, we had to make "pirate stops" at three spots, stopping only for the night, traveling approximately 30-50 miles on each leg, on our way to Clarence Town, Long Island, Bahamas. Our first stop was Mayaguana, which my sister took as "My Iguana!" The next pirate stop was in Attwood Bay, at the Northeast corner of Crooked Island. Again, no getting off the boat to explore. On the third day of this passage we made it to Pittstown on the Northwest side of Crooked Island. Finally, on the fourth day we got to Clarence Town where we were able to check in. We called in and spoke with the Officer on duty who asked us to come right in. After rushing to take down the dinghy and motor, we raced in. Officer Smith was one of the nicest C&I officers that we have ever met. She verified our documents and $300 charge, and said we are free to explore the Bahamas for three months. She recommended the marina restaurant for lunch, which we gladly obliged, and had the most delicious mahi sandwiches ever! Murphy's law said that a storm should blow in just when we are ready to walk back to the dinghy and motor back to the boat, which it did. Yes, I am again a badass!
