Sailing Liahona

St. Barthelemy, or St. Barths (for short) is a beautiful, well-kept island. Everything was in immaculate condition, from the roads and buildings to the landscaping. We browsed the most expensive stores, ate, drank, gazed at many sport-yachts, went to museums and to Shell Beach. Our anchorage was over-crowded and rolly. After one day in St. Barths, we were ready to head to Antigua. In addition, we did not see any famous people. They didn't see us either.

We took Anne and Norm up a couple of bays to Grand Case, home to many incredible restaurants, hosted by chefs from all over the world. We had our first meal there at Scoopy's, a barbecue Lolo. Lolo's, open-air local restaurants are popular in Grand Case and offer local food at a great price. We had chicken and ribs with all the fixin's. Yum! Finally, we have visitors to Liahona! Our eleven days of visiting, touring, eating, laughing, talking and having fun!! Norman and Anne join us🥰 We refuel and leave for Grand Case, St. Martin soon after they arrive.

Time was coming for our very first long passage. 1500NM from Hampton, Va to Saint Martin in the West Indies or Windward Islands. We decided to join the Salty Dawg Rally, with a group of seasoned sailors who offer guidance and support while o n passage. This was a good decision on our part as we had workshops such as safety at sea. They also offered an informal inspection and guidance to ready the boat for this passage. My broken wrist and I fly back to Hilton Head to heal. For five weeks, I visit doctors. I hang out with Susan and Maxine. I finish glazing the second Liahona mug that I made. Shari visits from NY. We go to the beach and take walks. It was wonderful spending quality time with her. We climb the lighthouse. I included a few pieces of Maxine's artwork on this blog, including her herd of turtles water fountain. She does incredible work. It is wonderful learning from her. The orth
