Into the Rainforest in our Rental Car!

After waiting three weeks in Guadeloupe, we finally got our 2 day rental car. We started off bright and early in the morning in order to get the most out of the small, standard Dacia brand car. And off the the rainforest, we went. Luckily, Tim was skilled at driving a standard shift car through windy roads and hairpin turns. All I had to do was sit back and enjoy the ride. Guadeloupe Zoo - Land of Animals and Suspension Bridges

We finally found a taxi to take us to the zoo. And what a day or was! We were to meet our taxi at 10:00, but it began raining early in the morning. It was pouring at 10:15. I texted the driver, telling him that we had to cancel because we couldn't get to the dock. He said he would wait. Bouillante Thermal Baths - Feeling Like Bouillon

We followed our friends down to the next anchorage in order to experience the hot springs. At the Bouillante Thermal Baths the water flows downhill and runs the geothermal power plant as it flows to the sea. It mixes with the ocean water and become a natural thermal bath with healing properties. The water is 95°-113° as it rumbles down the mountains, the perfect temp for hot soup. Off to Malendure and the Jacques Cousteau Nature Reserve

We spent a week in Malendure, meeting new friends, having lots of sundowners and getting much walking in. There were three grocery stores within a mile of the dinghy dock. We made several trips down there and lugged everything back (mostly Tim). We did several loads of laundry. Tim went snorkeling with a friend, while I waited on the boat.
